Whereas by recognizing and honoring excellence in STEM through the recording women’s
contributions and impact on society as leaders, educators, executives, scientists, and engineer, we
can provide role models for future generations.

The vision of the International Day for Women and Girls in Science is to be:
  • Compensated fairly and without discrimination
  • Advanced equitably and without bias
  • Exposed to successful role models in leadership positions
  • Recognized and respected for their scientific and leadership achievements

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science Goals are to:
  • End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls in science everywhere
  • Ensure women in science full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership
    at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life
  • Adopt and strengthen social policies and enforceable legislation for the promotion of women in
    science equality and the empowerment of women in science at all levels
  • Ensure that all girls have free, equitable and quality primary and secondary science education
  • Ensure equal access for all women to affordable and quality scientific technical, vocational and
    tertiary education, including university
  • Substantially increase the number of women in all ages who have relevant skills, including
    technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship
  • Eliminate gender disparities in science education and ensure equal access to all levels of
    science education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities,
    indigenous peoples and girls in vulnerable situations
  • Substantially expand globally the number of scholarships available to developing countries, in
    particular least developed countries, small island developing States and African countries, for
    women enrolment in science higher education, including vocational training and information and
    communications technology, technical, engineering and scientific programs, in developed
    countries and other developing countries
